I regularly receive the question from Newborn Care Specialists and Nannies, why they not get a chance to be referred.
We receive many resumes that are lacking professionalism; and there are times that I am really flabbergasted.
So, I decided to share a few tips with you below. I really love to help our industry; and crafting a strong resume really matters!
It is very important to stand out from the crowd! Resumes communicate who you are; and what you have accomplished. Your resume is the one and only document a families sees, before making a decision to move forward with an interview.
You have to make sure that your resume is professional, visually appealing, updated, accurate; and most of all, truthful.
If you choose to use a picture on your resume, make sure this is a professional headshot. Headshots at JCPenny Portraits are less than $100.
Your resume should be easy to read; and have clean fonts that are consistent throughout the entire resume. It should really look appealing.
A simple Word document with only a Times New Roman typeface is not doing it! Resumenerd provides really wonderful formats for clean and simple resumes, with beautiful typography, color and/or other design elements.
A grammatically flawless resume is extremely important! If an agency has several candidates that are roughly equal in their education and experience, why refer the one who turned in a resume with errors? A proof reader is really inexpensive on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork.
We offer Zoom Resume Workshops for the low price of $50 per person. One-On-One Zoom Resume Coaching Sessions are $125.
