Sharing this beautiful universal energy
As a Reiki Master Teacher and Nanny Agency Owner, I recognized a true need while working with Parents, Newborn Care Specialists, Postpartum Doulas and Nannies.
New parents are oftentimes so overwhelmed, wondering why their adorable little one is so restless, fussy, grunting, crying, spitting up…or up all night. Nothing really prepares a parent for what seems like an endless exhaustion; and sleep-deprivation.
Newborn Care Specialists, Postpartum Doulas and Nannies offer an incredibly valuable support and service to families…but they don’t always have a solution either.
Ever since I graduated from Nursing School, I have seen the wonderful benefits of Reiki. I had the privilege to work in a hospital where the calming effect of Reiki was shared with infants; especially preemies, and newborns with special needs.
There are currently close to 200 hospitals in the United States where Reiki is offered as a standard service to newborns at a neonatal ICU; and Pediatrics.
Reiki can help to reduce the constant stress associated with pain, beeping monitors, ventilators, IVs’ and other medical equipment that has a negative effect on vital functions and sleep of newborns, infants; and children in general.
Doctors and Nurses have reported that the complimentary treatment of Reiki reduced pain, improved relaxation, better sleep; and an increased appetite.
The interest of Parents in Reiki, as well as professionals in the child care industry, has been increased tremendously over the last few years because of these new studies.
Becoming a Reiki Level 1 Practitioner is therefore a wonderful added skill-set for Parents, Newborn Care Specialists, Postpartum Doulas; and Nannies. It will surely add new levels of wellness, comfort, and awareness for the children in your care.
Since “Rainbow Nannies” is the name of our Nanny Agency, we decided to call our Reiki Classes “Rainbow Rays”. Rainbow Rays are after all deeply rooted in its role as a bridge between our physical and present selves; and our spiritual selves. No surprise that Rainbow Rays are the connector between the earthly and spiritual realms.
The focus during Reiki Level 1 Practitioner Training is to open the energy channels on a physical level, which allows the practitioner to connect to the universal life force energy, that flows from the cosmos through the crown of the head and down to the heart and hands.
Our Reiki Level 1 Practitioner Training is the beginning course, where you’ll receive a Reiki attunement, along with the information and training you need to give Reiki to yourself…and to others. Through the Reiki attunement, you’ll be connected to the Reiki energy itself, which gives you the ability to administer Reiki through a series of hand positions.
Introducing Reiki to children at a young age, will teach them about the importance of self-care, to take responsibility for their emotional, physical and mental health. It raises their self-awareness and their vibration, thus, aiding a positive attitude.
Later on, Reiki is a phenemonal tool to share during childhood and adolescence of your children. The arrival of a new sibling, the first day at school, being afraid of making new friends, pressure of tests and exams, moving to a new city, changing schools, bullying, low-self-esteem, family issues, like separation/divorce or death…and so on.

Disclaimer: Reiki is gentle, safe, non-invasive, comforting and nurturing. Reiki complements other types of medical and therapeutic treatments; and it can increase the efficacy of other types of healing. The Oxford dictionary defines Reiki as “A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical well-being and emotional well-being” (ReikiFed, 2021).
